Nude Camping: Why You Need to Try It ASAP

Ahh, naked camping. The wind in your hair, the soft grass under your butt, the sun touching every inch of your body, and having a full area you can roam around and explore that’s not your private back yard.

For many naturists, this is the idea of pure bliss: what better way to celebrate your love of nature than to be surrounded by it, in your most natural state?

If you’re the kind of person that runs in the opposite direction when camping is mentioned, you might want to have a look through this list. Naturist camping might be one of the best things you could do this summer!

Here are a few reasons why:

Nature, Nature, Nature!

Being out in nature is proven to have beneficial effects on your mind and body. The pureness of the air, the serenity of the plants and trees, feeling the earth beneath your feet… these are all great ways to get back in touch with Mother Earth. They’re important when it comes to cultivating appreciation and awareness of the beauty that surrounds us – things that are so often ignored.

Combine this with the benefits of nudity; boosting your immune system, detoxing your skin, airing out your everything, and you have a recipe for relaxation!

While many campsites (especially naturist ones) have been evolving over the past few years, there are some things that remain the same: enjoying the sun and soaking up all the vitamin D, enjoying nature and having a little escape from the everyday hustle and bustle of life are just some of them!

Naked Recreation

Playing sports naked is a favorite past-time of many nudists. But as there aren’t really many nudist sports centers (yet!), playing sports at nudist campsites is the best option for this!

While you make jokes about bouncing balls and shuttlecocks, the naturist life strongly promotes and embraces a healthy lifestyle. From getting your vitamins from natural sources instead of supplements, to living an active and healthy lifestyle, nude recreation has been at the heart of many naturist societies and communities for a long time.

Doing sports naked is also great for your skin – you get to sweat out all the toxins while you play without having clothes to restrict you or reintroduce bacteria back into your skin.

And yes, playing sports that require a lot of movement and physical exertion may look weird naked. Heck, it may be incredibly awkward the first few times. Actually, it probably will be. But once you get used to the fact that there are boobs and balls and butts and whatnot all jumping and jiggling around, you’ll realize it’s not that big a deal.

Playing sports or fun games in the outdoors while naked is a freedom like no other!

Make Nudist Friends

Nudist resorts and campsites are some of the best places to meet other naturists and make friends. For newbie nudists who are a shy and hesitant about going up to others on a nudist beach – or at all – a naturist campsite is the way to go. You’ll be around people who enjoy nude recreation and nakations.

There are so many opportunities to meet new and like-minded people, from playing a game of naked tennis, to nude group dinners, setting up your tent and meeting your new neighbors, there won’t be time for shyness. And you’ll be glad to finally have a group of people surrounding you that share your love for nakedness.

Nudists are a very social bunch of people and making friends with other nudists is really a lot more comfortable to some than making friends at your local tennis or golf club.

For one, you’ll have something in common with every other person at the nudist campsite: the obvious fact that you’re all naked. Therefore, you’ll have at least one topic of conversation to bond over.

Also, being naked around other people has a certain vulnerability surrounding it. You’re striped down from any labels, or clothes that may otherwise divide you. When you’re naked, you really have nothing to hide.

Swimming Naked

Cannon-balling into a lake on your hike and not having to worry about wet clothes, putting on your bathing suit, or getting undressed is incredibly liberating. Not to mention time-saving.

Feeling the water on your skin, going in for a skinny dip in broad daylight without fear of getting caught and getting into trouble are also added bonuses when it comes to feeling free and one with nature.

But be warned: once you’ve given skinny dipping a go, you won’t want to swim with your bathing suit on ever again. The hassle that comes with tight bikini ties, tan lines and soggy swimming trunks just don’t compare to the smoothness of the water on your bare skin, the sun drying you off, and the naked walk back to base camp.

Usually we only get to experience being naked in water when we’re having a bath or a shower – but why limit ourselves to this luxury?

Take the plunge and dive in (pardon the very lame puns) to swimming nude at your local naturist campsite.

Many campsites have swimming pools or jacuzzis if there isn’t a body of water right next to it.

Camping ≠ No Technology

For a lot of people, camping is practically synonymous with a lack of electricity, running water, internet and the comforts that come with 21st century living. We get that can be a scary thought…

If the memories of camping with the family on a cold, windy hillside in the pouring rain are still burned into your brain, giving nude camping a go is enough to erase those memories and replace them with fun and freedom.

Many nude campsites (as regular campsites) have caught up with technology and have WiFi, hot showers and even social hubs and bars to gather in when the weather takes an unexpected turn.

Have you ever been to a nudist campsite? What was your most fun experience there? What’s stopping you from going if you haven’t already been yet?

  1. I have not been nude camping yet , for one I don’t know where to go that’s not a clothing optional resort, I live in Tucson, AZ I’ve checked with the forest service and they don’t issue permits to go hiking naked. So where could I go in AZ where I won’t be bothered by a forest ranger. And do you know of any place within a 100 miles of Tucson, AZ?

  2. In our younger days when we looked good and the children were small we visited a few naturist clubs and beaches. Our best I think was “La Chiappa” in Corsica. We weren’t under canvas but in chalets on a totally naturist site for two weeks. The weather was great and the kids loved, made a few friends as well. We tried a club on our return but as I worked 6 days a week we had little time to visit and of course we were restricted time-wise by the weather. In the end we bought an old farmhouse with a pool and fairly private garden and spent our nudist hours there in the sun. The pool was 40ft by 20ft but initially open air and non too warm beeeut we were young and put up with it. WE had very visitors, we told friends they were welcome but cossies were optional and we didn’t wear them! There were some very prudish people about in those days and still re!!!

  3. I fully agree with your article. It is a great feeling to visit a nudist campsite and take off your clothes. You can be naked for a week or two which is an exhilarating feeling. It seems strange to have to put your clothes back on. The whole atmosphere is very relaxed and you will love the feeling of freedom and the sun and air on your skin. Nude swimming is something else. You will never want to wear a swimming costume again. For complete freedom try the smooth look which adds another level to the nude experience.
